First Images from James Webb Telescope Released

NASA officials attend a briefing at the White House.

President Biden revealed the first image from the newly operational James Webb Space Telescope earlier this week, giving a glimpse into the vast universe. During a briefing alongside NASA officials at the White House, he said, “This telescope embodies how America will lead the world, not by the example of our power, but by the power of our example.”

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said, “The image showed various galaxies that shined around other galaxies whose light has been bent” or gravitationally lessened. “If you held a grain of sand on the tip of your finger at arm’s length, that is the part of the universe that you’re seeing… Just one little speck of the universe.”

The telescope was launched in December with its primary mission to view objects far and wide.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Administrator Nelson to be led by God as he heads NASA.
  • For the president and his administration to recognize God’s sovereignty as they view His handiwork in the galaxies.
  • For NASA officials as they maintain comms with the James Webb Space Telescope.
